A new guide to help attract and recruit of allied health professionals (AHPs) is now available, to support the NHS Long Team Workforce Plan.

This quick guide to Allied Health Professions Careers Awareness has been developed by Workforce, Training and Education function of NHS England – South West.

The evidence-based review is designed to help NHS organisations and academic teams reach out into the community to highlight the attractions of AHP courses and careers.  It is aimed at the existing workforce community and at colleagues working within health and care careers services wanting to promote AHP careers and to engage in AHP careers awareness activities.

It spans:

  • First-time career choices
  • Career-change
  • Return to practice
  • AHP support roles
  • The links with work-experience and work-related learning
  • Equality, diversity, inclusion and belonging

The guide is based on an in-depth literature review, with links to a range of resources and tips on the best approaches.

It is available here under the quick guide toggle, alongside other information on stimulating demand for AHP the career of choice. There is also a reference and page link to it via the Allied Health Professions (AHP) Careers Awareness Toolkit landing page.
