A college in Hull has been recognised for its training of students looking for a career in the health sector.
Wyke College said it had achieved “outstanding results” for its adult nursing T-level, a qualification that combines classroom study with 45 days of industrial placement.
The college’s teaching staff have been asked to share best practice with other nursing T-level providers in England.
The first cohort of students from Wyke completed their qualification in 2023 and have progressed to further health-related courses, or jobs.
Ruby Davies, who is now studying adult nursing at Leeds Beckett University, said: “The practical side of the T-level nursing course has been invaluable, and the teachers at Wyke Sixth Form College have been incredibly supportive.”
Teacher of T-level Health and Vocational Industry Lead, Sophie Lill said: “Being recognised as one of the best providers in the country for T-level Health is really pleasing.
We are always looking at ways to develop or teaching and improving our student outcomes, so when you get national recognition, it means a lot to us.”
The two-year T-level course, which is equivalent to three A Levels, sees the students spend 20% of their time in a hospital or community setting.
